REBECCA’S OBITUARY
Rebecca loved her birds and enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, and all things craft. She had a DIY mentality. Her true passion was people. She worked at various positions and locations in the healthcare industry, spent over 20 years advocating for Veterans, and was the president of Rolling Thunder Chapter 8 OH.
Rebecca is survived by her beloved husband David C. Blackmore; loving daughters Tonya Tompkins (Greg) Pugh and Tennile Tompkins (Michael) Rubin; cherished grandchildren Kayleigh Shafer and Dylan and Paige Rubin; dear siblings Donna (Bruce) Wofner, Jim (Jerrie) Nehrenz, Lonnie (Donna) Nehrenz, and Janet (Bill) Kempel; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of adopted family.
Rebecca received many honors in her lifetime. In 2013 she received the Ohio National Guard Award of Merritt Ribbon. She was Medina County Veterans “Advocate of the Year” in 2016. She received these honors and awards for her dedicated service to Veterans.
A celebration of her life is planned for October 2, 2021 at the Medina VFW from 4pm to 10pm.
